WNZR, operating at a frequency of 90.9 FM MHz, signed on the air in October, 1986. The station is owned and operated by Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU), located in Mount Vernon and Knox County, Ohio. The station studios are located in Founders Hall, on the 2nd floor, and are part of the University’s Department of Communication.

WNZR operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year, broadcasting primarily an Adult Contemporary Christian music format, along with a variety of syndicated Christian talk, music and teaching programs along with MVNU chapel services and athletic events.

WNZR is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as a Non-Commercial Educational station. In May of 2008, the FCC approved WNZR’s application to increase signal strength from 100 watts to 1,300 watts, allowing the station to reach beyond central Knox County into parts of neighboring counties (Richland, Morrow, Licking, Delaware). The new license was granted and the new transmitter was turned on May 21, 2010.
